A few months ago I tweeted a complex (and tedious) Excel formula on how to classify keywords: For the #seo who insists on completing their keyword/intent research in excel Philosophy: keyword intent is not absolute so it won't fall neatly into an assigned bucket. For this reason a keyword can live under multiple conversion funnels since we can't be 100% certain.

I’ve been preoccupied this month with my recent job change so I don’t have anything insightful to share. However, that doesn’t mean cool things aren’t happening on other websites!

I love optimizing websites for search engines so much I regularly do consulting work on the side. But what I love more than THAT is showing clients the amazing year-over-year results of a successful SEO campaign.

Wow - this blog is officially ONE YEAR OLD! I have learned a lot about the art and science of search engine optimization since my journey began and I must admit it has been quite an experience.

I was conducting some basic research for a prospective client yesterday using Google Insights and went off on a small tangent which lead me to write this blog post. By the way, Insights is a great SEO tool to help visualize search volume throughout the year by category, geographic location and specific years.

You’ve finally taken a big step in admitting that your website needs to be optimized for search and compiled a list of SEO agencies in your area . Now all you need to do is call and ask them countless boring questions about how they’re different.

I had a conversation with a friend the other day regarding my freelance SEO work . What he doesn’t understand is why I’m doing everything on a volunteer basis and not charging these business owners market rate for my consulting work - or at least at a discounted rate.

It has been three weeks since the advent of Google Instant and there’s already 85 million search results for it - WOW! That is very impressive…. but then again, that’s the world wide web for yah.

Tomorrow marks my one month anniversary as an SEO Analyst Intern with CafePress ! Although it has only been a month, I have learned more in 30 days about search engine optimization than reading 5 books cover to cover relating to the search industry.

A few days ago, Google introduced Google Instant to the search world. In essence, Google Instant’s purpose is to decrease search time for searchers, make accurate predictions and and procure results instantly.

Before I begin my post I would like to say - I FINALLY RANKED #1 (2, 3 and 4) ON GOOGLE FOR “SEO CHRISTOPHER YEE” !!!!!!!!! Although #1 goes to my LinkedIn profile , it doesn’t bother me at all because I know that it’s ME and not some other dude.

Today marks the completion of my second week on the job! And by job I mean as an SEO Analyst Intern at CafePress . My previous post, Job Obtained: Link Builder Intern , stated that I’m a Link Builder.

For the past couple of weeks I completed a whole slew of phone and on-site interviews with potential employers who wanted to hire me as an entry-level SEO/SEM Analyst. A recurring question amongst my interviewers was, “what do you think are the most important factors to look at for search engine optimization ?

I appear to have stumbled across a search engine algorithm mystery when it comes to getting my pages ranked. In a matter of three days I was whomped (is that a word?)
